A man accused of shooting at an Oologah Police officer and leading law enforcement on a chase into southeast Kansas in May 2015 had his sentencing hearing delayed Thursday.

In April, a Kansas jury found Alex Garcia guilty of attempted capital murder, kidnapping and burglary.

At Thursday's sentencing, Garcia said he wanted his attorney removed and the judge agreed and set a new hearing for July.

After a chase which ended north of Coffeyville, Garcia hid in a home in Liberty, Kansas. Law enforcement tracked him to the home where he was arrested the next day.
