A capacity crowd turned out for the Tulsa County Commissioner meeting Monday as they discussed the renewal of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement program.

Under the current program, when illegal immigrants are arrested, Tulsa County Sheriff's Office often holds them for the federal agency before deportation. Most of the undocumented people who are held in the Tulsa County Jail are Hispanic.

Sheriff Vic Regalado said they currently have 154 inmates on immigration hold. He also said TCSO does not arrest solely on their status.

The jail is considered a field office of the U.S. Immigration and Customers Enforcement under the detention program. County Commissioners decided to delay action on the immigration agreement.
