Boyfriend Jailed In Assault Of Woman On Illinois River

A man is in the Cherokee County Jail after law enforcement says he assaulted a woman at the Diamondhead Resort near Tahlequah over the weekend.

Authorities named Nathan Dale Webb as the man they believe assaulted a 34-year-old Little Rock woman. 

The Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission said the victim had just gotten off the Illinois River from a float trip when the attack took place. The victim was flown to an Arkansas hospital Saturday with severe head trauma, according to the OSRC.

She has since been released.

Law enforcement said it appears Webb may have also sexually assaulted the victim, but they are still investigating. They said the victim was in such bad shape the night of the crime, she couldn't be interviewed.

Investigators plan to talk to her Monday.

They say Webb, 40, is the victim's boyfriend.
