Police say two drivers ran away after crashing into utility poles on Memorial Drive early Saturday. Officers said both crashes left thousands of Tulsans without power.

The first crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. near 2nd and Memorial Drive.  Witnesses told officers a southbound pickup struck a pole knocking down power lines.  The driver of the truck ran away before police arrived.  Police said they found the driver a short time later at a QuikTrip at Admiral and Memorial and arrested him.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma says that outage impacted 1,500 customers.  Crews were able to restore power within 20 minutes.

At about 3:45 a.m. police said another car struck a power pole near 81st and 72nd East Avenue near Memorial Drive. Witnesses told officers that driver also ran away.  Police found and arrested the driver at a Walmart Neighborhood store at 81st and Sheridan.

That crash knocked out power to over 8,200 PSO customers.  The utility says crews expect to have all customers' power back on by about 9 a.m.
