Police believe at least two thieves burglarized a Muldrow church either late Monday or early Tuesday, stealing thousands of dollars in electronic equipment.
Carl Fugett, the pastor of Church of the Nazarene on South Main, discovered the burglary when he arrived Tuesday morning.
He told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, someone broke into the church's basement and stole more than $6,000 worth of equipment.
“We lost two video projectors, a Dell laptop. We lost some wireless microphones and receivers for those, a Sony camcorder and tripod stand setup,” said Carl Fugett.
He said the thieves left behind more than $20,000 worth of other items like instruments and audio equipment.
“The safe, they tried to move it, but didn't go anywhere with it, and you know, the PC that they left had all the church's records on, our banking records and everything,” Fugett said.
Despite the theft, Fugett says the church will still have services next Sunday as usual.
Muldrow Police tell KFSM the incident remains under investigation and they've asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist them.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call police at 918-427-4431.
