Members of the Oklahoma Army National Guard are gearing up for a deployment to the Middle East later this year.

The Oklahoma National Guard 245th Airfield Operation Battalion has moved in and occupied Muskogee's Davis Airport as they train for their mission.

On Thursday, Osage SkyNews 6 HD Pilot Will Kavanagh talked with their commander Captain Scott Collins about the training.

"We are the first of the two 245th Airfield Operations Battalion and what we do is essentially set up an air traffic control that allows us to control military or civilians airplanes and helicopters," said Captain Scott Collins.

He says this was an awesome display of how the Oklahoma Army National Guard prepares soldiers for real world operations in hostile environments like the Middle East.

"We've had the Air Force fix wing, we've had Black Hawk. It's come from all over the place and come together and create an event for us," said Captain Scott Collins.
