Vic Regalado Sworn In As Tulsa County Sheriff

Tulsa County has a new sheriff for the first time in nearly three decades. Vic Regalado was sworn in Monday morning at the Tulsa County courthouse.  

In a news conference that afternoon, Regalado said former Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. George Brown is his under undersheriff. Former reporter Casey Roebuck is the new director of public information for TCSO.

At the swearing in, the new sheriff discussed some plans for the department, stating the "good old boy" system is gone and that all would be treated equally. Regalado will keep former Acting Sheriff Michelle Robinette in her former role as chief deputy.

Regalado also said he will review all pending lawsuits and internal affairs complaints during his first 30 days in office. He also plans to bring back the reserve deputy program after making changes to policies and training.

Regalado beat Democrat Rex Berry in the April 5 special election. He will serve the remainder of Stanley Glanz's term, which expires at the end of the year. A general election will be held in the fall.

Regalado moves to the sheriff's office from a longtime career in the Tulsa Police Department where he won the Medal of Valor and Lifesaving award, among other honors, his website states. He most recently served as a homicide detective and has also worked on the gang unit and SWAT team.

He is married to Jennifer, a teacher at Berryhill Public Schools. The couple has three daughters.

Glanz, who had been sheriff for 27 years, resigned on September 30, 2015, after a grand jury indicted him on two misdemeanor charges.
