A Tulsa man arrested for child abuse by injury and child neglect in the death of a 2-month-old girl is now facing murder charges.
On March 15, 2016, police were called to the Ashford Overlook Apartments in the 6200 block of South 33rd West Avenue just after 9:30 p.m.
When first responders arrived, they found 2-month-old Khloe Hamilton unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said 21-year-old Joseph Lee Bunnell was with the child while his girlfriend, the child’s mother, was at work.

Officer said they responded to the apartments after Bunnell called the mother, who called the grandmother stating Khloe was unresponsive.
According to reports, Bunnell was arrested that night for “obvious bruising to Khloe, the conditions of the apartment, and delaying summoning medical assistance for several minutes before contacting EMSA.”
Police said bruising was found on multiple areas of the child’s body; and while the Chief Medical Examiner has not determined the cause of death, it was noted there were head injuries that appeared to result from blunt force trauma.
After reviewing the case, the District Attorney’s Office filed formal charges of child abuse murder and child neglect on Bunnell.
