It's almost Easter weekend, and children in Bixby celebrated a little early at the annual community Easter egg hunt.
It was just one of several egg hunts across Tulsa County.
“Everybody had a great time, a really great time,” Michelle Jenkins said.
Chilly temperatures didn't keep the kids away, as families rushed around in search of candy filled eggs at Haikey Park.
“With the rain we've been having and the cold that came in last night, I was a little concerned at how many people would show up today,” Bixby community center activities director Celia Wetherrill said.
Wetherrill helps organize the Easter egg hunt every year.
“We put out 1,500 plastic eggs and then hundreds of dollars,” she said. “We spend almost 1000 dollars on the Easter egg hunt every year."
The big draw? Prize eggs -- toys, stuffed animals and baskets filled with goodies.
Some kids even had a strategy before heading out on the big hunt.
Others just enjoyed the fun.
But parents and kids say everyone walked away with something.
“Everybody got a chance to get their candy and everybody came out happy,” Jenkins said.
