An Osage County deputy and a suspect were injured after a traffic stop on Tulsa's Tisdale Expressway late Thursday.
The Osage County Sheriff's Office says deputy Jesse Brewer stopped an SUV on the Expressway near Apache just before 11 p.m.
Undersheriff LouAnn Brown said Brewer handcuffed the driver, Manual Deleon and placed him in his patrol car while he searched the SUV. During that search, she says Brewer found some drugs. At about the same time, Brown says DeLeon slipped out of the handcuffs and ran away with the Brewer chasing after him.
During the foot chase, Brown said the deputy lost his hand-held radio and cell phone.
Tulsa Police say an Osage Nation police officer found the deputy's car stopped on the side of the highway but not the deputy. He called Tulsa Police, who used their helicopter to locate the deputy about six blocks away fighting with DeLeon.
Police say both men were checked out by EMSA paramedics before taking DeLeon to the hospital for a breathing problem.
Upon his release from the hospital, Brown said Manual DeLeon was booked into the Osage County jail on several drug complaints.
