The Broken Arrow School's Board of Education has approved new start times for all its schools for the 2016-17 school year.

The district says the reason is their student population has grown at a rate of three-percent for past few years and more than 60-percent ride a school bus.

The board approved a recommendation from a special task force to go from its current two bell system to three different start times for its elementary, middle and high school campuses.

Officials say the change will allow Broken Arrow Schools' transportation department to have sufficient time to get students to school and back home safely while reducing the average route by 13 minutes and drastically improving wait times after school.

High School (grades 9-12)

7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
 Late Start Wednesdays - 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Middle School (grades 6-8)

8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
 Late Start Wednesdays - 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Elementary School (grades K-5)

9:10 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.
 Late Start Wednesdays - 9:40 a.m. - 3:55 p.m.

Pre-K

8:15 to 8:45 a.m. drop off (no change) - 2:20 to 2:50 p.m. pick up (no change)
 Late Start Wednesdays - 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. drop off - 2:20 to 2:50 p.m. pick up

The school district says parents will receive the new start time information by mail later this month.
