A 22-year-old man crashed his vehicle after suffering a seizure while driving just north of the Cleveland city limits on Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.

Payton Hurd, of Hominy, was transported by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital, where he is said to be stable, according to OHP.

The investigating trooper said Hurd was northbound on Oklahoma 99 at 11:40 a.m. when he became dizzy and faint. Hurd crossed the center line, departed the roadway to the left, hit a guardrail, the vehicle spun around, departed to the right and came to rest into a guardrail face.

The official cause of the crash was medical, OHP says.

The trooper wrote in his report that Hurd was wearing his seatbelt.
