Pro anglers are rolling into town for the Bassmaster Classic on Grand Lake this weekend.
Top anglers Kevin VanDam and last year’s winner, Casey Ashley spoke to News On 6.
Both VanDam and Ashley have been in Green Country the past couple of days, checking out the conditions on Grand Lake ahead of the tournament.
Ashley said, "I think it's off a little bit. It is for me anyways. You know, I've only been here one time - that was back in 2007 in June, so two totally different times of the year. But the lake then was a lot clearer. And even when I was here for pre-practice back in December the lake was clearer. But now it’s pretty muddy from top to bottom."
"I'm mean, the water is still really cold. We feel like its spring with these 70-degree temperatures; it's nice, but the fish don't know it yet. It's going to be a total different Classic than 2013. And to me, that's a good thing as a competitor," VanDam said.
The Bassmaster Classic starts Friday morning on Grand Lake with the first weigh-in that afternoon.
