There are ways to beat West Virginia and its relentless full-court pressure. Attacking and scoring without getting sped up too fast is tricky, but the Cowboys did that early.
Tavarius Shine made all four of his first half three-point attempts and the Cowboys led by as many as eight.
That was before OSU's turnovers and West Virginia's offensive rebounds turned things in the Mountaineers' favor for good.
"I thought our zone was pretty good for a team that doesn't play a lot of zone,” said Cowboys head coach Travis Ford. “We did a good job, but the second shots just killed us.”
Tavarius Shine added, "It's been really tough on us because we have a short bench, so fatigue comes into it a little sometimes. But, we needed to make some shots in the second half is the main part."
The Mountaineers grabbed 19 offensive rebounds and scored 19 second chance points in their 70-56 victory.
The Cowboys finished with 19 turnovers.
Up next, OSU will attempt to break a four-game losing streak on Monday night against Iowa State.
