An ENDUI sobriety checkpoint gets more than just suspected drunk drivers off Tulsa streets. Police made several arrests for people driving stolen cars and even having guns and body armor with them at the overnight checkpoint.
Tulsa Police say more than 220 vehicles went through a checkpoint that ran from 10 p.m. Saturday to 2:30 a.m. Sunday near Independence and North Sheridan.
On top of the 10 DUI arrests, police arrested 11 people for drugs, including eight felony drug arrests.
Two people were taken to jail for driving stolen cars. Officers also found five guns and some body armor.
Police served people for 21 outstanding warrants - one a felony - and issued over 200 traffic ticket.
The checkpoint is paid for by a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office. Law enforcement agencies participating in the event included TPD, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma ABLE Commission.
