The city of Miami now has a drone for various agencies to use.
The fire department plans to use it for search and rescue during fires, floods, and ice storms. The Miami Police Department says they could use it to search for suspects after a crime or for crowd control at city events.
"It's really just got a thousand uses. We're looking forward to search and rescue for maybe escaped suspects or something to that effect,” says Miami Police Chief Thomas Anderson.
Anderson says he's working on a department policy to comply with FAA rules and plans to have three trained operators to share drone duties.
