Grass Fires Burning In Muskogee County

Several fire departments are responding to grass fires in Muskogee County. Large plumes of smoke are coming from the dry vegetation. 

Firefighters were about to set a backfire to help contain one wildfire around 2 p.m.

The fires are moving rapidly - one about four miles southeast of Oktaha and another on the south side of Highway 40 on King Ranch.

Shady Grove, Wainwright, and Checotah firefighters are all responding. 

Another fire is on the south side of Highway 40 on the King Ranch.  There are structures threatened by that fire.
