The strong upper level storm system is lifting out across the central plains with blizzard conditions unfolding across the central plains into the Midwest. Showers and storms that developed last night are now located across extreme eastern OK and will rapidly move into Arkansas. By the time most folks read this post, they’ll be out of the state. A surface area of low pressure is lifting from NE OK into the central plains.
A cold front located to our northwest will bring much colder air into region around early to late afternoon with increasing gusty northwest winds. Temperatures will start in the upper 40s this morning and should rebound into the lower or even mid-50s by midday and dropping into the lower to mid-40s late this afternoon.
The coldest day of the week will be Wednesday with morning lows in the lower to mid-20s and highs in the lower 40s.
Several disturbances will move near and across the central and southern plains for the next 7 days but the impact on sensible weather will remain low across the eastern sections of the state. One system will arrive Friday night into Saturday but the main impact will remain well to the south and southwest of our area. Wind will remain from the south to southwest at 10 to 15 mph.
Yesterday’s data suggested north winds and consequently lower Saturday temps. Another front will enter the area Sunday afternoon or evening but not before daytime highs reach the mid-50s.
Super Bowl Sunday should be fine but much colder air will be likely Monday into Tuesday of next week.
Temperatures today will move into the 50s at midday before dropping again into the lower 40s. Northwest winds will develop at 15 to 30 mph. Wednesday morning will begin with lows in the lower to mid-20s and finish with highs in lower 40s.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
