After years of rehab, a Muldrow man has spent the last few weeks recovering at his home in Sequoyah County.

Christian Mayberry, 18, was critically injured when an all-terrain vehicle he was on ran off the road south of Muldrow in September 2013.

Even though he's back home, his journey to recovery isn't over yet.

“It's (unfortunate) what happened to me, but I’m kind of happy it did happen.  If it hadn't have happened, I would have never gotten this close to Jesus,” Christian Mayberry told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith.

When Christian isn't going through therapy, he's giving his testimony at local churches.

Christian's mother, Kim, said there have been ups and downs since they've been home, but Christian stays positive by sharing his story.
Kim said it's likely that Christian still has years of therapy left, but he's not letting that stop him from his big plans for the future.

“Seminary school and become a preacher or a minister," Christian Mayberry said.

Prosecutors have begun the process to retry Angela Gray, 40, of Muldrow who is charged with child endangerment by driving under the influence, selling/furnishing of an alcoholic beverage to a minor and a new charge of conspiracy in connection with the crash.

The jury deadlocked in her first trial in August 2015 and the judge declared a mistrial.  She is scheduled for a April preliminary hearing.
