Temperatures will start this morning in the 20s and lower 30s. North winds will keep the daytime highs in the mid to upper 40s today with partly cloudy conditions this morning and sunny sky this afternoon. After a chilly Wednesday morning, some warmer air will be arriving during the afternoon for the middle to end of the week.
The clouds killed the party yesterday by keeping the afternoon temperatures in the lower to mid-40s across northern OK while locations to the south experienced highs in the mid to upper 50s. The colder air will stick around today before a warming trend arrives Wednesday afternoon and continues through the weekend. Our next significant system will arrive early next week with some rain and thunderstorm chances.
A mid-level trough will be near the state today and early Wednesday. This will keep the air chilly with lows in the 20s and 30s. A surface ridge of high pressure centered just northwest of the region will circulate northeast winds across the area today keeping the daytime highs in the mid to upper-40s. The clouds will again be tricky but we’ll stay with the partly cloudy this morning and mostly sunny later today across the north with some clouds across the south.
Wednesday will be a “light wind” day with north winds early and south winds later in the day. Morning lows in the 20s will be followed by highs in the lower 50s. The upper air flow will become more zonal through the end of the week before transitioning to more of a southwest flow. The good news for most folks will be the warm-up in the forecast for Thursday through Saturday. Daytime highs Thursday will be in the lower 60s. But Friday’s highs may reach into the upper 60s with a few lower 70s possible west of the metro. A strong south wind Saturday could lead to increasing fire danger issues due to the dry vegetation and expected low humidity during the afternoon. A weak front will nudge into northern OK Sunday. This will bring the numbers down a few degrees but will still be in the upper 50s and lower 60s for afternoon highs. A strong upper level system will be nearing the region Monday or Tuesday of next week with increasing thunderstorm chances. Another sharp cold front will slide across the area sometime Tuesday.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
