A man who is suspected of firing shots at an apartment complex in Tulsa has been arrested.
According to Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley, someone reported shots fired at 49th and Yorktown near Interstate 44 on Saturday afternoon. When police arrived, they said they saw the alleged gunman, ex-convict Dujuan Atkins, attempting to get into a car into an intersection, but he was unable to do so, Ashley said.
TPD chased Atkins and Ashley said officers fired at him, but he was not hit.
Officers had to use Tasers on Atkins, then they took him into custody, Ashley said.
Atkins, 23, was taken to a hospital to be treated for a minor wound, according to police.
Police said a playground was around the corner from the scene, but no shell casings were found there.
"We were fortunate no innocent kids or anyone was hit on the playground," Ashley said.
Atkins previously was sentenced to five years in prison for a drug-related offense, and he currently is serving a suspended sentence for possession with intent to distribute, records show.
