Two people are in jail after an overnight police chase in Tulsa. It started near 61st and Sheridan when police were called about a suspicious vehicle in a driveway.
A homeowner said a white truck was parked in her driveway at 3 a.m. She could hear voices but had no idea who the people were.
When police got the scene, the driver - identified as Ladona Poore - put her hands out the window and said, "It's OK, we live here." Then as the officer approached, she put the truck in reverse and sped away, police said.
The chase ended when the driver tried to drive through a backyard near the 7300 block of 66th Street.
"This plan failed miserably as Poore wrecked out by crashing into a shed in a neighboring backyard," an officer said in a news release. Police said Poore and her passenger, Brandon Lay, tried to run.
A K9 officer tracked Lay, and police say the man "ended up on the unfortunate end of the K9's jaws." He had methamphetamine on him, according to police.
The release states the truck was filled with stolen property including a commercial washing machine, GPS units, jewelry, IDs and burglary tools. Police learned the truck was stolen as well.
Both driver and passenger were arrested. They were booked on several felonies including possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding, and drug complaints. Police say more complaints will likely be added.
"This is an excellent example of why homeowners should call the police when they see something suspicious in their neighborhood. We are grateful to the observant homeowner that helped us put two criminals in jail," the release states.
