With winter weather making its chilly way through Oklahoma, EMSA has safety tips for Green Country residents.

EMSA recommends you:

  • Make sure you have three to five days worth of food, water and any medication you need.
  • Make sure your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are working.
  • If you don't have warm housing,  stay with a friend or family member.

It's a good idea to stay home in winter weather, but if you must get out - be sure you're prepared in case of a breakdown.

Have a full tank of gas, food, water, blankets and plenty of warm clothes in your vehicle. Make sure your cell phone is charged so you can call for help if needed.

Check on neighbors at risk and be sure to bring pets inside.
