A stalking victim hoped her day of justice was finally here, a day she's waited on for 16 months.

The Attorney General filed 11 charges of stalking and harassment against her ex-husband George Thomas.

Kathy Higgins filed repeated police reports and deputies had arrested her ex over and over, but the district attorney at the time in Rogers County wasn't acting.

After we aired a story about her situation, the AG stepped in and took over the case.

When we met Kathy Higgins in June 2014, she said she spent the previous year and a half living in fear of Thomas.

She says Thomas had stalked and harassed her and her family nonstop. She said he tried to run over two family members and did hit a third, who luckily, wasn't hurt.

She says he rammed his truck into her car head-on, over and over, with her inside begging him to quit.

After a dozen police reports, numerous protective order violations and nothing being done, Kathy was afraid he was going to kill her.

The final straw for her was learning Thomas was going to get a plea bargain and community service.

That's when she called us, and after our story aired, the Attorney General's office filed charges and put Thomas in jail, where he's remained the past 16 months.

A psychologist testified Thomas is bipolar, has anger problems and has delusions of everyone being out to get him.

He suggested Thomas be treated and monitored to make sure he stuck with it.

Thomas testified he is guilty of all the crimes and is sorry and embarrassed and asked the judge for mercy, saying if he got probation, he would follow doctor's orders, move to Texas and leave Kathy and her family alone.

Kathy testified she and her family have lived in fear for a long time and she does not believe he will follow orders because he didn't before. She asked the judge to sentence Thomas to the maximum on each count.

The defense attorney said Thomas is mentally ill and should not be sent to prison but given treatment.

The judge said he wasn't feeling well, so he didn't sentence Thomas today. He will do so on Jan. 13.
