Green Country Bands March In National New Year's Day Celebrations

<p>Green Country bands are marching in New Year's festivities across the nation, from the Rose Parade in Pasadena to the Orlando Citrus Parade.</p>

Two Green Country bands are taking part in New Year's Day celebrations. The Jenks Trojan Pride Band is marching in the Rose Parade, and the Oologah Stallion Battalion will perform at the Sugar Bowl.

The Jenks band will march in the 70th position in the 127th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade held in Pasadena, California. The parade begins at 10 a.m. Central Time.

The Union Renegade Regiment marched in the Orlando Citrus Parade. While in Florida, band members enjoyed a day at the beach and other sunny activities. 

The Oologah Stallion Battalion marching band will take part in a halftime performance at the Sugar Bowl Friday night in New Orleans.

More than a dozen bands on the field will be playing together.

Band Director Jon Matthews said for a relatively small school, it is a big honor to take part in the unique experience.

"It's going to be a lifetime memory for those kids," he said.
