Osage County deputies arrested a Pawhuska man Wednesday afternoon in connection with a suspected southeast Kansas murder.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says rural firefighters were called to a house fire south of the Independence, Kansas Municipal Airport earlier that morning.  Sheriff Robert Dierks says while fighting the fire they found a body believed to be 35-year-old Henry Wawrzynaik inside the home.

A short time later, he says deputies learned Thad Green, 32, may have made statements of his intention to cause harm to Wawrzynaik.

A warrant was issued for Green who was located in Oklahoma and arrested.

Dierks says they are still waiting the results of an autopsy, in order to positively identify the body.

He said Thad Green is being held in the Osage County jail, pending his extradition back to Montgomery County.
