The Little Light House is expanding and needs donations to help cover the cost.
The Little Light House, located at 36th and Yale, provides tuition-free therapy and education for children with special needs age birth to six years old.
Its enrollment is at 64 and has 150 students on the waiting list. By expanding and renovating the current classrooms, the school hopes to eventually expand enrollment to 130.
The school hopes to raise about $600,000 to help with furnishings and other expenses as part of its “Building Brighter Tomorrows for Children with Special Needs” campaign.
The project is divided into independent phases, which are completed once full funding is received for each phase.
The current phase of construction includes eight new classrooms, administrative offices and four training observatories. The next phase will be renovating the existing facility to add larger classrooms and a multipurpose room.
In the final phase the school will create an extension to its classrooms by developing a sensory garden, which can be reached from each classroom in the new facility.
