High school football state championship play kicks off in a little over an hour and here's what you need to know about the 6A-I matchup between Jenks and Broken Arrow.
6A-I Broken Arrow vs. Jenks
The Broken Arrow Tigers and Jenks Trojans will face off for the 6A-I Division I title this Friday night at Chapman Stadium (University of Tulsa). The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers will fight to claim a 6A-I title while the Trojans will battle to win their fourth straight.
On the game
Broken Arrow Head Coach David Alexander
"Getting an opportunity to get to beat him is more than I could have dreamt for in my second year, and I think we've got a team that's playing really well and we're going to get a chance to measure ourselves against a three-time state champion on Friday."
"We know that Jenks is going to fake a punt; they do it every year in the state championship game, and if they have an opportunity they're going to fake a field goal."
Broken Arrow Senior Offensive Lineman Rowdy Frederick
"As far as what I hear from people around town, it's, don't be another letdown, go out there and bring home one."
Jenks Head Coach Allan Trimble
"Selfishly speaking, I really hope they can pull it off, but we really enjoyed this senior class. They've got a lot of wins under their belt; we're really hoping they can pull it off."
Jenks quarterback Cooper Nunley
"I want it pretty bad, probably worse than anything I've ever wanted in my life. It means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to them too."
"Having been there three times in three years really makes it better and calms your nerves a little bit."
