Oklahoma - especially the southeast portions - will continue to receive more off-and-on showers Sunday.

"Most of the flood warnings in effect in southeast Oklahoma will be expiring late this morning, but some flooding will still be possible in that part of the state with the additional rain they'll see today since the ground is completely saturated," said Stephen Nehrenz, WARN Team meteorologist.

Rivers will be susceptible to flooding, particularly in southeast Oklahoma. Flood warnings for particular rivers in SE Oklahoma have been extended through Monday and Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

"Additional rainfall amounts for Sunday near Tulsa should be around 1/2 inch or less, but we could see up to another 1 inch of rain in far southeast Oklahoma from McAlester to Poteau and points south," Nehrenz said.

The National Weather Service states the heaviest rain, from 7 to 9 inches, has fallen in Choctaw, Pushmataha and southern LeFlore counties over the last few days. These areas will be most susceptible to additional flooding.

The Poteau River at Panama, the Kiamichi River near Antlers and the Red River in Choctaw County are in flood.

State Highway 31 in Pittsburg County west of McAlester and State Highway 63 between Hartshorne and Blanco in Pittsburg County have re-opened, according to ODOT.

There are still some highway closures in Atoka, Cherokee and Love counties.

Remember - most flood deaths occur in automobiles, so never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.
