Trash Truck Crew Sees Burglary, Alerts Owasso Police

Owasso Police are looking for a man seen stealing items from outside a store Wednesday morning.

Owasso Police Lt. Nick Boatman says a trash truck crew spotted the man outside the Atwoods at 116th Street North and Garnett. The man tried to hit the trash truck loader with his pickup, according to police.

The trash truck crew called 911 and a short time later, a Collinsville officer responding to the call saw the suspect's pickup and attempted to stop it, but the driver took off. 

Owasso Police were also involved in the chase which eventually ended at 121st Street North and 129th East Avenue where the driver got out and ran away.

Police searched the area but didn't find him.

Three nearby Collinsville Public schools took “precautionary measures," as police searched for the suspect. They were given the all clear a short time later.

Police said the man was trying to steal a log splitter, which he had hooked to the trailer hitch on his truck.
