Adair Police say the driver of a semi avoided being injured after his truck's trailer was clipped by a Union Pacific freight train at a Mayes County crossing Tuesday evening.

Police said the crash happened at the crossing on Highway 28, just east of Highway 69 at about 7:15 p.m.

Officers said the truck which was headed west was stopped at a traffic light with its trailer still on the tracks when the lead southbound locomotive clipped it.

Debris from the crash hit two other vehicles at the crossing including another semi.

After the semi was removed, the railroad crossing was re-opened.
