The patchy fog and stratus cloud deck stuck around yesterday through the noon hour before gradually allowing some partly sunny sky across the area. This morning additional patchy fog is again a possibility but stronger south winds around 10 mph this morning should keep the fog from becoming too problematic. Temperatures will move from the 50s this morning into the mid-70s this afternoon along with gusty south winds.
Weather Alerts - Dense Fog Advisory
This warmer weather trend will remain Wednesday before storm chances return across the state Thursday. Some of the storms may be strong to severe. Cooler air will follow the system Friday into the weekend. A fast moving upper air system may provide a few sprinkles or showers Sunday.
Our strong west coast trough has now made progress eastward and is located across part of western California this morning and will move east while digging southward during the next few days. This system will bring rain chances back to the area Thursday. Some of the storms could be strong to severe Thursday afternoon and evening. The system appears to be progressive and will clear the state late Thursday night into Friday morning. A cold front will move southeast Friday morning with north winds and cooler air. Morning lows in the 40s and 50s will be followed by highs in the mid-60s with partly sunny to mostly sunny sky.
The upper air flow will bring a long wave trough across the nation Friday into Saturday and this feature will brush the state sometime Saturday. It appears that low level moisture may be too far removed from the northeastern part of the state for anything other than a few clouds Saturday morning. At this point I’ll keep the weekend forecast dry.
Sunday another fast moving disturbance in the southwest flow is now modeled to move near the state. This should produce some clouds and possibly a few sprinkles or showers in some locations. I’ll more than likely add a low-end chance for a few showers Sunday for this forecast cycle.
The temperatures may drop a few degrees for the weekend. Temperatures should drop into the lower 40s and upper 30s for Saturday morning lows followed by highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. North winds at 10 to 20 mph will be likely Saturday.
Sunday could be cooler for the highs but we’ll stick with lows around 40 and highs near 60.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog .
Have a super great Tuesday!
