A Cherokee County Deputy shot and killed a man who had reportedly stabbed four people Friday night.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault said the incident happened at a drug rehab center between Ft. Gibson and Tahlequah in the Norwood area.

He said they received a call around 7:15 p.m. about a man stabbing four people and that the man had also set a barn on fire before running away..

When deputies searched the outbuildings the man confronted them with a knife, Chennault said. A deputy shot and killed the man.

Ambulances took three of the stabbing victims to hospitals; the other one was treated at the scene.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the shooting.

Chennault said Saturday that they are presenting their evidence to the district attorney's office and that additional information will be released next week.
