Police say a man is in the hospital and his uncle arrested after a stabbing and brief standoff late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Just before midnight, officers say they were called to disturbance at the corner of East Latimer and North Florence. Upon arrival located a man with at four stab wounds to his back and neck lying on the ground.
EMSA took him to a Tulsa hospital. At last word, police said the victim's lungs had collapsed and he was in surgery.
While police were talking to the victim, a woman came out of a house in the 1100 block of North Florence who told them her son and nephew had gotten into a fight and Coy Gilliam, 44, was still inside and refusing to come outside.
The woman told police that the nephew had come home drunk and "had been going crazy inside the house." She said Coy tried to calm her nephew before a fight broke out.
Police brought out pepper balls, tasers and tactical gear and eventually convinced Gilliam to exit the home and surrender to officers.
After he was questioned, police booked Coy Gilliam into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. Jail records show he has a court appearance set for November 4.
