A Tulsa County judge set a new trial date for James Poore, one of two brothers accused in the deaths of four Tulsa women at a Fairmont Terrace apartment in 2013. The new date for his trial is February 29, 2016.

James Poore’s trial was scheduled to start Monday but was delayed after the revelation that a Tulsa Police detective failed to turn over evidence to the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office.  Judge Kurt Glassco called the overlooked evidence "substantial in volume and significant in character."

James and his brother Cedric are accused in the murders of twin sisters Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Powell-Melchor, 23; Misty Nunley, 33, and Julie Jackson, 55. The women were found shot in the head with their hands tied behind their backs inside an apartment January 7, 2013.

Cedric Poore's trial is set to start February 1, 2016.

Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler informed the judge of the evidence Friday, stating he thought Detective Kevin Hill overlooked the evidence by error. The prosecution is required to turn over pertinent evidence to defense attorneys.

The judge also set a date of October 28, 2015, for a hearing in which the Tulsa Police Department is to present information about why the evidence wasn't handed over. A conditional examination of Detective Hill is set for 9 a.m. December 4, 2015, before a different judge.
