Tulsa native and Seahawks rookie wide receiver Tyler Lockett earned the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month Award for September, the league announced Thursday. "It's a great honor and [I'll] always cherish it. And I think, you know, for me it's just, you know, continuing to get better each week," he said.
The former Booker T. Washington standout had a 57-yard punt return in Seattle’s season opener against the Rams. He also ran a kickoff 105 yards for a score Sunday vs. the Bears, setting a new team franchise record. "It was all about going out there and trying to make a play," he explained.
Lockett currently leads the NFL in total kickoff return yards (240) and ranks seventh in punt return yards (94).
