When you're sick and ache all over, the last place you want to be is in an Urgent Care waiting room with a bunch of other sick people, waiting for the doctor.
Well to prevent that, St. John has just started an online program that will let you do some of the waiting at home.
“What we are just launching right now is basically an online patient, self-scheduling software," said Co-medical Director of St. John Urgent Care, Dr. Jason Lepak.
What that means, is that you can make an appointment online and they'll tell you when to come in – allowing you to do your waiting at home.
Lepak said it’s fairly easy. You log onto the system, answer a few simple questions – like the reason for your visit – and then they’ll tell you what time to come in.
He said you'll know when you're supposed to be there, and employees will know you're coming.
Last year, St. John's Urgent Care Clinics saw nearly 60,000 patient visits, that is potentially lots of time in one of the waiting chairs; now most of that waiting time can be scheduled where you want.
Lepak said the medical staff monitors the information you provide.
"If we see that it is critical or serious and something we potentially can't treat we can give you a call," he said.
It's on at all of the St. John Urgent Care locations, or at the St. John Owasso emergency room.
You can find all the details of the new program here.
