Tulsa Police are investigating after one person was shot and killed Friday evening. Police are searching for the shooter.

Several police cars and an ambulance responded to the 2000 block of North Harvard Avenue just before 9:00 p.m.

Police said when they arrived they found a man in his early 20s in the street with several gunshot wounds and in grave condition. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Witnesses said they were walking with a friend near the Dollar General Store when, out of nowhere, a man in a hoodie showed up and shot this victim in the chest and face several times with a large-caliber, semi-automatic handgun, TPD Sgt. Dave Walker said in a news release. The friends said they were walking behind the victim and were unable to prevent anything from happening.

They said the victim was able to run a few yards after he was shot before he collapsed.

Police do not have a description of the shooter but said he was last seen running west on Tecumseh.

Police said as of now, there is no evidence the victim was involved in any gang activity and they are working to establish a possible motive.

A small-caliber handgun was recovered nearby, Walker said, but detectives do not know how that gun came to be in the crime scene or if it is related to that particular shooting.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
