This Saturday, Tulsa will scrimmage in full pads from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Chapman Stadium.
In addition to teaching a new playbook, Montgomery and his staff are trying to help the Golden Hurricane players move on from their unsuccessful previous two seasons. "The new coaches have come in and they don't know anything about the past so we might as well forget the past too and start building on our present and our future, and I think that's what we're trying to do," said quarterback Dane Evans.
Receiver Keevan Lucas says the team has changed since Montgomery took over. "Coach Montgomery came in and it's just a totally different culture," he explained.
After Saturday’s scrimmage, players will sign autographs for Fan Appreciation Day. There will also be activities for young fans including an inflatable play area, face painting and games.
TU opens the 2015 season against Florida Atlantic on Saturday, September 5, at Chapman Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
