The family of a Tulsa man who drowned in Fort Gibson Lake is holding a memorial in his honor.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 45-year-old Shawn Walton drowned after he jumped off the front of a pontoon boat in the lake on July 25.
Troopers said the boat was tied up at Spring Creek when he jumped in and never resurfaced. His body was recovered later that same night.
Sunday, August 23, a memorial for Walton will be held starting at 1:00 at the Dixie Tavern at 3161 South 129th East Avenue, Suite M.
There will be prize and money raffles, food for $5 a plate and live music. At 6:00 there will also be a balloon release.
Money raised at the memorial will go towards funeral costs.
If you can’t attend the memorial but would like to donate, an online fundraising site has also been set up.
