An 8-year-old boy is dead after a Saturday evening wreck on U.S. Highway 169, Tulsa police have confirmed.
TPD says a one-vehicle fatal wreck near the 81st Street South exit on U.S. Highway 169 started with a blown tire, TPD said.
Around 5:08 p.m, a Ford Explorer Sport Track was northbound on U.S. 169, veered sharply to right and crossed lanes of traffic after the blowout. TPD says when the vehicle reached the edge of the road, it flipped several times and ejected three of five passengers.
The 8-year-old boy and a 3-year-old passenger were both ejected. TPD said no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
The other occupants of the vehicle were said to be stable.
There was another crash nearby in the southbound lanes, but no serious injuries have been reported.
Highway 169 northbound was closed from 81st Street to 71st Street for about four hours after the wreck.
