Pryor Police are investigating a suicide they say happened right outside their building.

A man walked into the lobby at about 9:30 Wednesday morning, told the dispatcher to send someone to secure his weapon, then stepped outside and shot himself in the head, according to Chief Steven Lemmings.

Officers treated the man until the Pryor Fire Department and an ambulance arrived. A medical helicopter flew him to a Tulsa hospital where he died.

Police say they won't release his name until they've finished notifying his family. They do say he was 37.

News On 6 has a policy of not reporting on suicides. We made an exception in this case because of the nature of the incident.
