TCSO Captain Demoted In Wake Of Internal Affairs Investigation

The Tulsa County Sheriffs Office has demoted a high-ranking officer in the wake of the accidental shooting of a drug suspect in May.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has demoted a high-ranking officer in the wake of the accidental shooting of a drug suspect in April.

Captain Bill McKelvey has been demoted to deputy.

He'd been on paid administrative leave since June 1, 2015.

Sheriff Stanley Glanz suspended McKelvey with pay until the completion of an internal affairs investigation. Glanz said at the time the investigation involved personnel issues and wouldn't comment further.

Major Shannon Clark was fired effective Friday, June 5, 2015.

The controversy began when Reserve Deputy Bob Bates, 73, shot and killed Eric Harris during an undercover gun buy on April 2, 2015 outside the Dollar General in the 2000 block of North Harvard.
