The mother of a 4-year-old boy faces a charge of child endangerment after her son went missing for five hours.
Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies said they received a call around 2 p.m. Tuesday regarding a missing boy in the 6500 block of North Norfolk, in Turley.
Dozens of law enforcement officers searched on horseback and on foot for the boy until they found him inside a garage about a half a mile from home.
Deputies said Marshall Landon Lee Bratton, who goes by Landon, was checked out by medical staff and released into his aunt's custody while the Department of Human Services continues their investigation.
Shelly Davis hugged her son when officers brought him back to her; but not long after their hug deputies put her in handcuffs and took her to jail on a charge of child endangerment with a bond of $25,000.
Next door neighbor Kim Redeagle said she placed the 911 call after Landon couldn't be found.
"I'm relieved and glad that it is over now and he is safe," she said.
Deputies said Landon was playing in his yard when Davis went inside and later came out to check on him and saw he was missing.
“He is 4-years-old, he didn't know any better and his mama didn't supervise him enough to keep him in the yard,” Redeagle said.
Osage SkyNews 6 HD flew overhead during the search, as Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies were spread out, searching in the neighborhood and near creeks.
Deputy Justin Green with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said, “They got here quickly, they got here fast and we were able to communicate with a lot of other agencies."
Deputies said Landon was found sleeping inside an abandoned garage about a half a mile from his home; a woman found him and alerted deputies.
After being checked out by EMSA, he had fun with sheriff's deputies - riding on their patrol horses - before being reunited with his family.
While DHS investigates, deputies said he'll be in his aunt's custody. She gave him a huge hug as soon as she saw him.
"Hopefully it's a wake-up call to her because she is always telling me he is all I got, he is all I got,” Redeagle said.
Two other men, Christopher and Damien Gilbert, were also staying in the house with Landon and his mother. They were arresting for obstructing an active investigation.
