Mayes County Rancher Who Shot Veteran's EMS Dog Won't Face Charges

A Mayes County rancher who shot and killed a veteran's service dog chasing his cattle will not face charges.

A Mayes County veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder lost his service dog when a neighbor shot it for chasing his cattle.

Danny Cooper said his emotional support dog Marley got out of the yard on Saturday.

The rancher who shot the dog said Marley was a threat to his cattle, and he gave Cooper plenty of time to get the dog off his property.

The incident was under investigation and Thursday, the Mayes County Sheriff's Office said that the rancher will not face any charges.
