A Muskogee teenager landed a monster of a fish Wednesday night.

Chase Staner, 19, caught a spoonbill that's almost as big as he is. The fish weighed 115 pounds and was 69.5 inches long.

Chase's mom, Melanie, said he used a 12-foot Meat Hunter rod and an Abu Garcia rod with an 8/0 hook and 30-pound Trilene.

He caught it at the Fort Gibson dam and he really had to work at it.

"Took him one hour and 45 minutes," she said. "His friends Jesse Allen and Kalen Phillips helped him tackle the monster."

They are checking to see if it broke any lake records at this time.
