Deputies are looking for the driver of a stolen pickup involved in a west Tulsa chase early Tuesday.

The sheriff's office said deputies stopped the GMC pickup in the 4700 block of West Archer just south of Highway 412 at about 1:45 a.m. When deputies approached the truck, the driver suddenly backed into the patrol car then drove off.

Deputies chased it for several miles to the 6400 block of West 4th where the driver jumped out and ran away. A search failed to turn up the driver, but a passenger was detained.

The sheriff's office said the pickup was reported stolen from Tulsa's Brookeside area on Monday and that it had already been repainted.
