Police say an 18-year-old was taken to jail after his car hit a fence in west Tulsa early Monday and then tried to run away when officers arrived.

Officers said the crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of West 4th Street and 33rd West Avenue.  The crash damaged the Pontiac and flatten a tire.

Police caught up with Matthew Blankenship who was pepper sprayed when he fought with officers.

Officers booked Blankenship into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of resisting arrest and hit and run.  Jail records show he has a May 28 court appearance set.
