The latest maps from U.S. Drought Monitor show nearly 50 percent of Oklahoma as drought-free with only nine percent in the severe drought category.
Those counties include Garfield, Grant, Kay and Noble in north central Oklahoma and Cimarron and Texas counties in the Panhandle. The rest of the western half of the state remains in the moderate drought category.
The eastern half of Osage County and most of Washington County are classified as abnormally dry.
