Owasso police say a man shot in the head by a friend has died. Robert D. Sapp, 28, passed away at St. John in Tulsa Tuesday morning.

Owasso Man Dies After Friend Shoots Him In Head

Owasso police say a man shot in the head by a friend has died. Robert D. Sapp, 28, passed away at St. John in Tulsa Tuesday morning, according to Owasso Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woodruff.

Around 1:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, officers were called to the Brookwood Apartments in the 1400 block of North Birch Street. They found Sapp with a gunshot wound to the head.

Another adult male was at the apartment, and he said he accidentally shot his friend with a .22-caliber rifle.

Police are still investigating the shooting, and the Tulsa County District Attorney will determine if any criminal charges will be filed in the death, Woodruff said.

The name of the shooter has not been released. He is a 26-year-old man, and police say he is cooperating in the investigation.
